......We went to the wedding at just past midday....as usual we found it difficult to park our car...the wedding reception is held at the bride's house...it is not that far from our home in Ampang Jaya...the invitation was from twelve noon to three in the afternoon..... in a Malay wedding where the reception is held at the resident ....it is normal to see the time of the reception stated as from ...and to... in this case the reception start from twelve noon till three in the afternoon...so we decided to go early thinking that it would be easy to park our car since normally at the place of the reception parking would be a major problem...when we arrived just after one....we soon realized that others were also thinking like us and we soon found that parking car continue to be a problem, we look around and eventually found a place to park our car....a relatively short distance from venue of the reception....we walk and met the host at the entrance of the house....We say Salam and was usher in to the buffet lunch that has been laid for the guests....we select our food and look for the table and other friends .....and sure enough found our other friends already at ease enjoying their food...we join in and chat and soon more and more guests began to arrive...as usual in a Malay wedding we were give the 'bunga telor' the wedding special gift 'flower egg' are normally give to the guests as a token of their friendship and appreciation to every guests.....a tradition that has been pass down from generation to generation and still in practice till to day...one would surely bring home the special Malay wedding egg 'bunga telor' after every wedding reception......in a reception of this nature one had to leave the place as soon... so that other guests may use the available seat to enjoy their food....so we did not stay long and after meeting a few friends.....we move to meet the host again and thanks him for the invitation and then drove home.....the problem of organizing a reception like this is that the guests could not stay long and had to move on after enjoying the buffet...this is because of the nature of the invitation...hundreds are invited but the place to sit and eat are limited...that is why the invitation stated the duration of time...so that the guests would arrive in a stagger manner...In a reception held at a hall in a Hotel, it would be different...there would be one time stated on the invitation card and all the guests would be served at the same time...in this manner guests would have more opportunity to mingle and chat around ....the same would be for the host...they would also be able to meet and mingle with all the guests but then to hold a reception like this would cost more and as such less people would be invited...so if one wanted to invite more... then the best thing is to do the reception at their resident like what happen today....well there goes another wedding party....and soon life goes to normal again.........
